Day 15

This past week I have learnt that if I don't follow a good routine, then it is harder (much harder) to follow my exercise & nutrition plans. Or, and I suspect this is close to the truth, I've discovered new excuses: 'I can't go to the gym, the house is a mess, and Hubby will be cranky!' and 'I can't exercise, I've only had 5hrs sleep!' Oh dear. I will add those ones to the list and writing some solutions. Hubby says he will be cranky if I DON'T go to the gym. I've never been good at setting & following routines, but I'm slowly learning. How does it go...?  Proper planning prevents piss poor performance!

I have been doing the odd sneaky daily weigh-in, and have been very happy with my results. Until this week. The last few days have been hard. For some reason my resolve to stick to the plan wavered and I was having a taste here & there.... Uh-Oh. I guess it just happens a few weeks into a new regime, it gets tougher, and old habits try to sneak in. But this morning I gave myself a slap, refocused on my goals and got back on track.

Speaking of goals, I can't believe I still haven't finalised my pre-season tasks... Shhhh, don't tell Mish! I will try to wrangle some time on Wednesday to get these finished. I've already had to re-evaluate one of my goals, which I have already achieved!

Here are a couple of delicious pics:

Baked *coughPoached* Eggs w Spinach, Feta & Wholegrain Soldiers
(Yes, there is an extra egg there... all budgeted for! ;)

Buttermilk Pancakes... YUM!!
They are so good, Hubby has requested these every Saturday!

I'm really pleased with my results so far, my Week 1 loss was 1.9kg, and Week 2, down another 1.3kg!! I must be losing cms as well, because my clothes are getting a bit baggy.

Today I burnt 500+ calories in my workout, YAY!! I have followed the meal plan well, and managed to get in a great workout, awesome!  The first 500+ workout was netball last week (646 calories), and tonight was BodyAttack (688 calories).

Now... to back it up and do the same tomorrow. Planning to do a double workout tomorrow (BodyStep & Zumba), hopefully to make up for my indiscretions this week. Hoping for another good loss on Wednesday morning!  Watch this space :)

My highlights/lessons of the first 2 weeks:

~ choosing not to partake in 2 work morning teas, I only ate my healthy snacks & water! (Quite different to the 'old' me that my colleagues remember - before I went on maternity leave)
~ handled a colleague saying 'GO ON, have some cake..!'  no thankyou :)
~ starting to feel my clothes getting looser
~ getting great results on the scales
~ starting to feel a bit fitter at netball, I spiked my heart rate to the max (187bpm) during our last game!
~ buying a calorie counter book and increasing my knowledge of low-calorie food options. I am disgusted at the things I used to eat, and am determined to NEVER eat like that again.
~ we need a bigger fridge! After our weekly shop it is bulging, and even with our Tupperware keeping everything fresh & stacked, it just isn't big enough. Lucky we have a 2nd fridge in the garage for the overflow, as we can't afford a new one.

Hope you're having a great week!!

Until next time,
Kylie

Get Real (Task 2)

Hello again!

How have you been?  I have great news to share, but want to get on with this task for now.

SO, Task 2 is about getting real, and coming face to face with all the excuses I have used to justify living an un-healthy lifestyle (i.e. eating whatever junk I liked and not exercising).  There are many I have acknowledged, and probably many more that I don't even realise yet.  This was a difficult task, but my perfectionism wouldn't let me skip it and go on to the others.  And it's probably the most important task of them all!

I have listed my excuses & solutions, and posted them up in my bedroom.  I'll probably add to the list over time, as my 'excuse' filter gets stronger & stronger :)

First days

Monday 12 Sept 2011 - Day 1 - Woo, we're off & running!

We all have colds, and now our daughter has got conjuctivitis :(  So, my first 2 days have been spent at home attempting to put eye drops in a 16mo, which is not easy.

The food has all been delicious so far.  I've discovered that our blender leaks, due to a missing part.  Far enough, it is about 12 years old, I bought it when I first moved out of home. So, I'll use the barmix next time.  Loved the chicken dinner and the balsamic strawberries! For snacks I had 1 tub Forme banana & honey yoghurt, and 1 tub mango Fruche.

I'm very proud that even though I'm not well with a sore throat and mild headache, I still went to BodyAttack last night! And I was the fattest person there by far, but you know what, I'd rather be there than at home on the couch huh! I used my FT4 for the first time, and it must have re-set half way through, as it says my workout was 38 minutes, but it was a 60 minute class.  By my calculations though, I must have burnt over 500 calories, so YAY!  Tonight it is BodyStep. Last week I just used the step platform, no raiser thingos. Tonight I will raise it and see how that goes.

Tuesday 13 Sept 2011 - Day 2

I LOVE poached eggs.. seriously. They are one of the few things I can cook well. So, any chance to eat an egg, I'll poach it above anything most times. BUT, previously it was 2 (sometimes 3) poached eggs, on english muffin, with cream cheese, slabs of avocado, and sometimes lean ham underneath and parmesan cheese on top, with herb & garlic salt and cracked pepper...  I don't even want to know how many calories that is!

This morning I had 1 poached egg, with a smear of avocado on 2 pieces of multigrain toast, and a coffee with 1/2 cup skim milk and 1 stevia (previously 2, sometimes 3 heaped tsps of raw sugar, eek!).  It was yummy, not quite the same, but I still enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what the scales say tomorrow morning!

I am feeling good, and might even be walking a bit taller :D  I'd like to do the 'learn to run' program, so will look into that today.

I'm still working on getting all my tasks done, but I'm off to a fantastic start!

Hope you are doing well too :)

PS. Our digital camera went for a dive onto the tiles and is currently showing no signs of life.  It is a good camera that has served us many years, and has already been to the repair shop once. We'll find out if it can be fixed, but it will depend on the cost. I'm bummed as I was about to start using it daily, and I'm the one who accidentally caused said dive :(
BUT, I am not going to use this as an excuse. I'll continue photo blogging and vlogging with my iPhone.
